A lot of people hesitate before ordering something custom. Not because they don't want it, but because they're not sure what they need to provide or how the process works. It feels like there might be a wrong answer.
There isn't. Ordering a custom laser engraved gift is pretty straightforward once you know what to expect. Here's a plain walkthrough of the whole thing.
Step 1: Know What You Want on It
This is the part most people overthink. For a simple personalized item, all you usually need is the text you want engraved. That could be a name, a date, a short message, or even just initials.
Have the spelling confirmed before you order. We engrave exactly what you give us, so double-check names, dates, and any custom phrases before submitting. That's the main thing.
If you want a logo or custom artwork engraved, you'll need a file to upload. More on that below.
Step 2: Pick Your Material
Laser engraving works differently depending on the material, and the result looks different too. Here's a quick breakdown of what we work with:
Wood (Cherry, Maple, Walnut, Oak): The laser burns into the surface, leaving a warm, toasted mark with real depth and texture. Each wood type has a slightly different color and grain, which affects how the engraving looks. Cherry tends to give a rich amber contrast. Walnut goes darker and bolder.
Acrylic: Laser engraving on acrylic creates a frosted, etched look. Clean and sharp. Works great for signs, decorative pieces, and anything where you want a more modern feel.
Not sure which material is right for what you have in mind? Send us a message before ordering. We're happy to make a recommendation.
Step 3: If You Have a Logo or Custom Design
Text-only orders are the easiest. If you want a logo or custom graphic engraved, you'll need to provide a file.
The best formats for laser work are vector files (AI, EPS, SVG, or PDF). If you don't have a vector version of your logo, a high-resolution PNG or JPG works in most cases, as long as it's clean and not blurry. We'll let you know if we need something different.
The laser engraves in grayscale, so color files are fine to send. We convert everything to work with the machine. What matters is that the artwork is sharp and the details aren't too fine for the scale you want.
Step 4: Place Your Order
On our personalized product pages, you'll see a field where you can enter your personalization details or upload your file. Fill that in as completely as you can.
If you have something specific in mind that doesn't fit neatly into the order form, just send us a message. We'd rather talk it through before production than have anyone disappointed after.
What to Expect After You Order
Most orders ship within 3 to 5 business days. Custom and personalized items are made to order, so we don't pull them off a shelf. Your order goes into production once we have everything we need from you.
If anything is unclear, like if your file needs adjustment or the text you entered has a question attached to it, we'll reach out before we start cutting.
Because every piece is made specifically for you, we don't accept returns on personalized orders unless something arrives damaged. That's standard for custom work, and it's why we're careful to get it right the first time.
